Introduction
NaomiAI-Math is an AI-powered adaptive math intervention platform similar to Khan Academy's Khanmigo and IXL, specifically designed to help students who are 1-3 grade levels behind in mathematics achieve grade-level proficiency and beyond. The platform leverages AI for personalized learning plans, adaptive questioning, and intelligent tutoring guidance.

Role
As a UX/UI Designer and Product Tester on the Naomi AI Math platform, I collaborated closely with developers to create an intuitive and student-centered learning experience. I conducted usability testing, applied UX research principles, and refined interface designs to ensure accessibility and clarity for students. I also supported development efforts, helping bridge the gap between design and engineering. This work contributed to a platform intended for real-world classroom use in New York schools.

Problem
The problem is that students need math practice they can actually trust: questions that are aligned to New York State standards, feel like real state-test questions, match the right grade level, and are accurate, clear, and usable at scale.

Goal
Naomi AI Math was created to give students a more accessible and trustworthy way to practice math through a real digital learning experience. The goal was to move beyond static question banks and build a platform

Impact
So far, Naomi AI Math has helped turn the idea of AI-supported math practice into a real product workflow in a middle school in New York. The platform already supports structured student practice through grade-based access, domain organization, and question flows, while also establishing an internal system for generating, reviewing, validating, and improving standards-aligned math content before it reaches learners. Its impact has been in making math practice more productized, more scalable, and more quality-controlled than a traditional static question bank.

Testing
For testing, I used Basecamp to document issues and suggestions for the development team as I reviewed the platform. Each ticket helped communicate either an error that needed to be fixed or an improvement that could strengthen the user experience. When a written ticket was not enough, I also recorded short videos, like the example shown on the left, to provide additional context and help developers better understand the problem before resolving it.
